Fens Co-op
The Deeping St Nicholas site consists of eight wind turbines on land at Vine House Farm and Worths Farm, together with an underground cable network, access tracks, hardstandings, a wind monitoring mast and a small switchgear building providing a connection to a power export cable. The installed capacity of the site's 8 turbines, each of 2MW, totals 16MW, and on average supplies the domestic electricity requirements of 8,400 homes.
The scheme won planning approval following a public inquiry, and construction started in May 2006. The wind farm was developed by Wind Prospect in association with EdF Energies Nouvelles. The wind farm was built by the turbine manufacturer REpower UK. The wind turbines are now fully operational and with effect from 1st January 2009 Fens Co-op own two of these turbines.
The site is located within arable fields, north west of the village of Deeping St Nicholas, near Spalding, Lincolnshire.
